Lower Town is a unique collection of buildings, most dating back to the mid nineteenth century. The National Park Service has done a wonderful job restoring and interpreting many of these structures. I should add that I am defining Lower Town with roughly the same boundaries as used in, AWalker’s Guide To Harpers Ferry.
This area provides many opportunities including basic architectural, street including people, detail and landscape photography. I have enjoyed many aspects of taking pictures here through the years including one of my favorites of being able to shoot down on structures such as the photo above.
Enjoy walking through the town and please take the time to walk up to Jefferson Rock, the view is as Jefferson said, “stupendous”.
